Framing
I really enjoyed doing this assignment, finding different things to take frame pictures of. I think they came out very well. My personal favorite, and the one that I just stumbled upon as I was taking the photo before it, was the one of the tree in my truck's mirror. I just love how the mirror created a frame directly around the tree from where I usually park in my driveway. I think these pictures are very effective and draw the viewers eye right to what's inside the frame. There are so many natural objects that create a frame, you just have to be creative and see it!
Rule of Thirds
I took three sets of pictures for this assignment because I wasn't sure how they would turn out. I took a picture with the object in the center, and then took a picture where it was on those "invisible" grid lines. The only way I could get the set of pictures side by side is by putting them at small size and then they wouldn't be as easy to see so I left them as is.
In this first set I can really tell what centering vs. "thirding" can do for your picture. The first picture is okay to look at, but it doesn't have much to it, where the second shot makes for a much better picture with that same object off to the side and other objects entering the picture. Same concept for the other sets of pictures.

Aesthetics - One Thing
I learned a little bit about aesthetics reading about it in the art world. Aesthetics is "a branch of philosophy that examines the nature of art and our experience of it." (Prof. Severyn T. Bruyn). I found this statement to be very true as we have aesthetic experiences all the time. The concept of aesthetics was generated in the 18th century in England where the classification of fine arts was created, with different forms of art.
I think everyone has some form of experience with art and it can be very inspirational. There are many different feelings that emerge with all of the arts and those feelings and experiences are truly what aesthetics resemble.

Color and Lighting
For this weeks work, I went around the house thinking about the lighting and color. I thought about the different effects on light that Kevin included in the assignment attachment and that is how I got several different shots of the same object(s). I took many different shots before I came down to the final few. I thought about; the flash of the camera, windows, overhead lighting, lamps, and more. I used many different combinations, I tried opening the window and closing it which may have a small effect but nothing huge. The first picture is with the flash on, the rest are not. I took one with the shade down and lamp on. I took one with side lighting, one from overhead lighting, and one from a dim lamp across the room. And I took a couple unaltered. I really like the different silhouettes and shadows they created from different lighting scenarios.
For the color theme of the week, I also stayed in the house and found that we actually have a great deal of color schemes around the house. The first one of the couch is monochrome because the couch, pillows, and walls are all a tan color. For the second photo, I saw something pretty cool with our red Hope sign and right below it is our water cooler which has a green bottle. I think it was a really cool complementary color scheme with the red and green opposites on the color wheel. I noticed we have a lot of complementary color schemes around the house as well.

Macro Collage
For this weeks pictures, I sought out my mother's beautiful garden. I don't know the names of many of these plants, but I do know they make for a great picture up close. There are a few that aren't quite perfect but I'm still getting to know my camera and I really enjoyed getting out and taking some nice shots. I wanted to get a good look at the texture up close on many of these as well and they came out wonderfully. I really liked this collage set up as well, I think it was the frame mosaic collage. Some of the pictures in the corners are a bit small but I think they all fit well together. I'm curious, which of the pictures in the collage is your favorite one?

Two Photos Comparison
Two Photos Comparison
These two photos I thought were definitely the best ones and they are at different angles slightly. The top one is at an even 180 degree angle where I have the camera focused right in on it and blurred out the background which I think makes for an even better picture. From this angle, you can really see many of the features of the tomato and although unappetizing from a hunger standpoint, really has a photogenic look. The perspective of this photo just screams, "come and eat me!" (They really don't taste good at all)
This picture I took from well below where the tomato is, I was actually sitting on the floor to take this picture. I think it makes the photo look that much better when taking it from an uncommon angle, like below the object. I really like the roundness all over this tomato and the camera captures that very nicely. I like this second photo the best because of the placement and angle of the shot, coupled with the blurred out background. The perspective of this picture really outlines the "beauty" (or weirdness) of this cool looking tomato.
One Object, Many Views
One Object, Many Views
This week, I really didn't know what I was going to take pictures of and then I saw this odd heirloom tomato on the counter and had to take some pictures of it. I hadn't really seen any tomato that looked like this before, its rather small but still made for some decent pictures I thought.
