Landscape Photography

It was nice for this weeks pictures to actually leave the house the get a few decent landscape shots. I drove all around St. Albans and took a bunch of landscape pictures, and then narrowed it down to these four. It takes a lot to try to get that "perfect landscape picture" because everything has to be pefect; especially the angle at which you're taking it. I took a few different pictures at different angles of the same area and you wouldn't believe how much better one shot looked than the other, just from a different position. I also think the overcast sky looked pretty cool too with some of these shots. The last one is neat because you have the landscape way in the background and I thought it was cool to look at.

  1. I really like your second photo. I love the lines on the doc and then the line of the horizon together because they are parallel. This is my favorite shot out of the bunch. Looked like a cloudy day, but you still managed to get some strong landscape scenery. Well done!

  2. Yeah - the second is my favorite too - Nice strong lines. You might want to try rotating/cropping it so the horizon is horizontal - I find the slight lean distracting.

  3. All of these photos work very well, though the third and the fourth ones are a bit dark...I know you were trying to get the clouds and sky...very difficult to get both the landscape and the sky when there is such a discrepancy between the amount of light on each. The first is cool with the pattern of white dots..it would be very cool if you could get closer to have some in the foreground and some in the background. The second one is a lot like a Japanese painting with the diagonal lines. It makes it a very powerful composition. Great work!
